Notes
-----
1. Copy the data between "[ start of data ]" and "[ end of data ]" and paste it
into a text file. Save the text file as (e.g.) "hearsat.tle". Do not use a rich
text file editor or the data format may be corrupted.
2. Starting with HearSat element set #00220, each set is numbered for historical
reference. The numbering scheme adopted comprises 2 digits to represent the year
(this numbering scheme will be changed in the year 2100 to avoid a "Y2.1K"
problem :-). The remaining 3 digits identify the sequential day of the year.
3. Two-line element sets contain the parametric values necessary to define the
orbit of a satellite according to Kepler's Laws. Each element set actually
contains three lines if the title line is included. The title line is referred
to as "line 0". The two data lines contain the orbital data and begin with the
line numbers "1" and "2" respectively, followed by the US Spacecom (formerly
NORAD) catalog number for the satellite.
4. The usual source for these TLE's is NASA's Orbital Information Group (OIG)
web server located in Greenbelt, Maryland, USA.
5. You should refresh your TLE's frequently - especially for spacecraft that
maneuver frequently, such as the International Space Station. US Space Shuttle
elements may require refresh as much as several times daily.
6. HearSat TLE's include the most common downlink frequency for the satellite
on line 0, immediately after the satellite name. This frequency will be
displayed beside the satellite name by the popular tracking program "STSOrbit
Plus" written by Dave Ransom.
7. A single alpha character immediately following the downlink frequency on
line 0 denotes the reception mode which should be used. The following scheme
has been adopted:
N = Narrowband FM
W = Wideband FM (APT decoding)
L = Lower Sideband
U = Upper Sideband
S = Single Sideband (Unspecified whether Upper or Lower)
C = CW
8. The satellites included in the HearSat TLE data are not all active all the
time. You should also refer to the status reports posted to the HearSat mailing
list to determine which satellites to monitor.
11. The downlink frequencies shown for the Orbcomm system are subject to change.
Scan 137-138 MHz to detect the latest frequency in use by each satellite.
Orbcomm satellites transmit a wideband signal but can be easily heard using
Narrowband FM.
